Album 3 - Roseanna Angel Lawrence

This album is called 'Lives and Deaths of an Actor'. It is all orchestration. Each song relates to a role the actor played during his life. The deaths could be seen as actual deaths in the films when playing a dying character, or deaths as a role ends and a new role begins. Each part of life we particpate in, and leave behind, in itself, can be seen as a kind of death.

Acting is a very interesting subject, there are many different types of acting, many actors use a wide range of techniques. In the film 'Chinatown' which I always thought was a masterpiece, Jack Nicholson talks about climbing into the skin of the Detective character he was playing. That stayed in my mind when I started to think about the idea.

LA Detective on this album was about this film.

I did have real people in my mind when I created some of the tracks. Some are very obvious. How many young presidents have there been in America? I was reading a book by the JFK memorial library at the time I created this track with interviews with John. F. Kennedy. I had to write about it for my book group.

The reclusive billionaire was 'Howard Hughes' although Hughes was hugely social in the beginning of his life in Hollywood, it was only later that he became a recluse.

The AI Inventor was Hiroshi Ishiguro, I saw some of his robots in London at an exhibition, they were very impressive, the one on display told people not to get too close as they were afraid of human beings.

This album was difficult as I had to finish it in during lockdown, and it was a very pressurised and stressful time for me. I had to deal with lots of other things. I had serious problems with my eyeglasses but could not get them fixed as everywhere was closed, so had to try and make a DIY fix. The computer and DAW had problems crashing so it took a long investigative process to find the reason why the DAW was frequently crashing.
